Saturday

Greetings and salutations! I opened up our mailbox and lo! Two nice envelopes with checks, one of them is rather fat and this nice little crocheted mouse for the cats....Smoky just loves it and took off with it as soon as I put it on the floor....Bandit hasn't seen it yet, she'd rather sleep.

We also planted the fig tree in a pot and it is doing nicely. Its even started some new branches...I will take more photos as it progresses....I am amazed that you can grow a tree from a twig...

You can't see them in this photo but there are tiny little shoots coming from where the leaves are, forming branches, at least that is what it looks like. This is all experimental and its fun to follow the progress......we wanted to keep it in the house, but at this stage, the cats wouldn't leave it alone...I can't have many plants inside, unless they are up high.

Its been cool, in the 50s, but very sunny and nice....great weather for gardening, I've been doing some weeding, still have a ways to go......we have alot of plans for the yard if we can get refinanced this year but no use doing anything until we know for sure....Alan wants to build a chicken coop and get a few hens.......and more vegetable gardening of course.....our fruit trees are starting to bud heavily, especially the nectarine

it won't be too long before it will be covered with pink flowers, the apple will have white ones..I am not sure about the peach..probably pink.

You've probably all heard about the Presidents snubbing of the British prime minister? Guess he needs a copy of Emily Post.......the Brits are very upset about it..... the book has a whole chapter devoted to etiquette for heads of state.....he also needs to rein in his partying....from what I have read, he is having private parties every week, especially on Wednesdays with high end entertainers (on our dollar)..there is one group looking into it. He hasn't had much experience in many areas and it's starting to show...hopefully he can realize it and slow down a little, get some good advice and mend some international bridges.

  1. Glad that your experiment is going well and bringing you joy! And yeah I'm ok I guess, thanks for asking. :) Between tons of errands and fibro flares I just haven't had the energy to post. Take care.

  2. Dani, what state do you live in that you can grow nectarines? And figs! It reminds me of when I lived along the Gulf Coast, we could grow so many things. My mother had that excellent and rare knack of growing things from "cuttings" she called them -- like your fig. She could even take camillia flowers from bouquets and root them...you really have a green thumb!

  3. We live in inland Southern California....its a little too high elevation for citrus as we found out the first two years we lived here, our orange and lemon trees froze..but nectarine, peach and figs grow very well...the apple is a one developed for our area too and the apples are very crisp, tangy and sweet at the same time...
