Good thoughts

"Have you the slightest reliance on anything other than God? Is there a remnant of reliance left on any natural virtue, any set of circumstances? Are you relying on yourself in any particular in this new proposition which God has put before you?

That is what the probing means. It is quite true to say, " I cannot live a holy life," but you can decide to let Jesus Christ make you holy. "Ye cannot serve the Lord God"; but you can put yourself in the place where God's almighty power will come through you. Are you sufficiently right with God to expect Him to manifest His wonderful life in you?" - - - - Oswald Chambers. Written between the years 1911 & 1917. My Utmost for His Highest.

I found this quote in the blog, Spiritual Heritage of our Founding Fathers...if you haven't read the blog, you are in for a real thought provoking, historical treat.....so many of our dear friends are facing trials right now, and I think the Lord is preparing his people for the future...are we going to rely on the world or on Him?
As Alan and I have followed the Lord for the last 35+ years, we have tried to rely on Him and in these days, even more so....
He has never disappointed or misled us, we've had many hard times though others and He has always been there to pick up the pieces and put us back together again...older and wiser. This season is no exception...The Lord provided enough funds to pay our mortgage ...the day it was due...
We didn't have any extra $ for food, then my son paid us his rent money, and we turned in cans and bottles, + counted all our change...had almost $100 for groceries! Plus a realtor called Alan and he gave him another check...God is able as we trust and rely on Him.

  1. My husband and I are having to rely more on God than we ever have, too, and we are finding Him to be faithful and true to His Word.

Though we have less money coming into our household than we ever have had, and grocery and gas prices are at an all time high, our needs are being met.

Yes, we've cut back in some areas, but not much, as we already maintain a frugal lifestyle, but God blesses us in so many different ways.

We love Clementines, but at $5 a bag, we rarely purchase them. Just last week, we found two bags of them on the produce markdown rack at our local grocery store, and they were in good condtion!

We also found four chuck roasts marked down to 1/4 of the original price, though they were a couple of days away from the 'sell by' date. We froze them to be cooked as needed.

Those are just two small areas of how He takes care of us. He is always doing things like that for us. I think some people fail to recognize all the blessings that of God, but He loves to bless His children, just as we love blessing our own kids. :-)

  2. amen - as always it is to His glory - bless you Dani and your beautiful believing family! We found an error in an old checking account that provided us with a much needed $780 - He is faithful and even when our worldly needs might not be met - our spiritual strength is always available.

  3. As my Grandmother always said and I still remember at a very young age seeing it happen...they would shut her power off and the next day she would get a check in the mail...when ever anything negative happened she would always say "THE LORD WILL PROVIDE" and he always did :)

  4. Amen Sista!! How true this is. Since I've retired, there's no way we should be makin' it!! I mean, we do the math.....there is no way....we've got more going out than what's comin' in....but each month, somehow, we have $ left in the account. GOD!! Has to be!! But each month we start gettin' franic about where the money's gonna come from...but why? God ALWAYS provides if we'll just trust in Him.

    Thanks for this post.

    Love ya girl,
    Vic

  5. We must rely on God regularly when it comes to finances. As a military family with a child support payment, mortgage, car and truck payments, insurance, some credit card debt (not HUGE but there, and a signature loan -- our months are very tight.

It's good for us -- you know? To ache to worry and to see that God comes through.

    Blessings to you!

  6. Praise God for his provisions! Such a wondeful testimony. We need to share this encouragement with each other ~ especially in these difficult times. It just builds each other's faith, doesn't it?
