As I said last night, we went on a road trip today to Imperial Beach,Ca which is very close to the Mexican border. Neither of us had been there before so didn't know what to expect....thought perhaps it would be like a typical border town but we were pleasantly surprised.....
The streets were clean and well kept....so were most of the homes. They looked like many houses in Southern California beach cities...built after WWII and were like the house I were grew up. The house was old, but in fair condition...needed new carpeting and flooring...some wood damage as someone pushed in the backdoor and one window was broken, but it had a lot of charm, with pretty woodwork....and the location was the best...it was within walking distance of the beach, stores and across the street was the community center, senior center and a nice park.
There was quite a bit of tropical plants in the yard..including .....this giant sago palm
On the way back, we drove down Old Castle road.. in North San Diego County, which winds through the hills with many lovely homes...we were trying to find the "Castle" which was a popular site some years ago..but couldn't find it. Perhaps the trees had overgrown the towers but it was built by a local writer, poet and artist, Issac Frazee..in the late 1880s, we both remember it from when we were teens and Alan even delivered lumber there when he worked at the local lumber yard...it was a little disappointing but we did take a few photos of the area
A eagle eye view but I don't think I'd want to go out for a milk run, would you?
well manicured acreage
Live oaks growing over the road....
a little tired tonight, it was close to two hours each way to Imperial Beach but a fun day......

That was a beautiful trip, Dani... how far of a drive was that?
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about Alan not being paid on time... is there not any other way to collect? I'll be praying things will turn around very soon... ((hugs))
neat posting about your trip to Imperial Beach - I'm so sorry about Alan not being paid what is owed to him. That is just so wrong on so many levels - we are realtors and make it a point to pay tradespeople within a day of getting their bill. Will pray
