I wanted to show you my new cake cover with all the other pieces of the set I won last year....I don't know if there are any more pieces...perhaps salt and peppers but the set seems to be perfect for this little curio and really helps in the kitchen....one of the mice likes it anyway!
I did find out this set was made in the 70s...so I guess it's "vintage", kinda like me... and its very useful and well made. I know I am well made (thank you Lord!) and hope I am as useful.

I have been embroidering more redwork flour sack towels for someone and am thinking about future projects...am interested in doing some altered art but that is besides the embroidery....
does anyone have any good how to do sites on making a altered book? I found a lovely Christmas card with Mary and baby Jesus which I cut out and thought it would be nice as a Christmas altered book with some scripture but don't exactly know where to start. Guess I need to find a old book first, huh?

The post yesterday was very scary and just confirms about living in dark times...the Lord's return seems soon....like my son asked the other day.."Mom, how do we then live"? I replied "we live each day as it comes and don't worry about the next." He worried that the Lord would return and he would be watching a movie or riding his bike..he was worried that he wouldn't be pleasing to the Lord on His return.....before I could answer him, he was off doing something else...I got to thinking about it.....and found in Matthew 24:36 - 51 the answer.....the entire chapter is great but this part stuck out to me.....
"Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, 'My master is staying away a long time,' and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of."

We need to live each day as if the Lord was returning at anytime ....doing what we know to be right....with whatever task God has given us...working outside the home, in the home...taking care of our families with love and respect...waiting for that Great Day...anyone else have a take on this? The entire chaper 24 and 25 deals with the end times and well worth studying in these days. Francis Schaeffer wrote a great book back in the 70s which I mean to read again soon called "How Shall We then Live?" He foresaw the times we are living in now.

He traces back through history, the rise of Western civilization and Christianity and looks towards the future from a historical perspective..

  1. Dani, your cabinet is so beatiful! Love all those vintage pieces. It looks like it belongs in a museum. I even like your little mouse friend there! LOL

Thank you for your reflections. I love what you said about living each day as if the Lord was returning at any time ... I don't think that assessment could be more accurate. I know we don't know the hour or day, but I can't help but wonder how much longer He will wait.

  3. Oh, Dani.... How GORGEOUS!!! I agree with Lea... it could be a museum piece. Your canister set is picture perfect.

Your reflections on living each day as if the Lord were returning made my mind flash back to a scene in a movie... I think it was Platoon, about the Vietnam War. One of the soldiers was commiting all kinds of atrocities and trying to get all the others to do so as well. One soldier resisted. When the first confronted him with the line "come on... what does it matter, we could all die at any moment", the second responded.... "yes, that's exactly why it matters, because we could all die at any moment".

It has always touched me to see such a vivid portrayal of the difference faith makes in two people dealing with the same circumstances.

You are indeed wonderfully made!!! I hope you have a blessed New Year my friend.

    Hugs... *Linda*
