Roses and Bill Whittle

There was yet another storm which came in yesterday..high winds and rain last night....and its rather cold here this morning, 38 degrees....fortunately, it didn't get down to freezing as our garden is just about all planted....the Don Juan roses like all the rain and have rewarded us....they smell heavenly also..the other rose bushes are awake now and growing..a few buds so it won't be long.....Don Juan's are always the first and are very abundant, both with flowers and rose hips...most of the year.
Something a little more serious...as you probably all know..there is a massive fight in Congress right now over the budget....with alot of people (Democrats) predicting doom and gloom...people dying in the streets, starvation...etc. if there are cuts.....its the same thing they did back during the Clinton years..the government was shut down for 3 weeks and wow, the sky didn't fall....amazing..

Both sides of the aisle have been at fault...no one is innocent in this mess, except maybe the new tea party members of Congress who are trying to do the right thing..living within our means which  we are all trying to do...Paul Ryan's budget seems very good from what I've read...nothing is done away with for the most part, just less increases..you must realize that Democrats look at this, they consider less increases as cuts....its like
we need a new TV and have X dollars to buy it with....shall we buy a cheaper set with the money we have or shall we use our credit card, get an expensive set..and owe zillion bucks? The Democrats opt for the credit card which is why we are in this problem now....borrowing more and more..and more...and more...
For the first time in history, our country owes more than it brings in....scary times....
The Left seems to think that its the rich that are the problem....that there is plenty of money....
Bill Whittle has done a wonderful video which explains the problem in a way everyone can understand.....

  1. LOVE the roses!!!! Just so beautiful. Mine are blooming, too. Strange weather, as our temps went down int he low 40's the other night, but we are supposed to hit 90 today.

About 6 years ago, I got rid of all my credit cards. It was scarey, and I realized how addicted I was to being able to have what ever I thought I "needed" at the moment. It's been a blessing NOT to have any debt, to learn how to budget and live within my means. I still have an older car, an old TV, but just can't go back to the old ways of credit and debt! Thanks for the video. Really good!

  2. We are loving the cool weather and all the beautiful flowers and green grass. Such a wonderful blessing!
I think you said it all correctly as to the state of our government. Couldn't agree with you more. If people would only stop listening to all the blah blah blah and think think think for themselves.
    Sweet Blessings, Abbey

  3. It really scares me that our military will not get paychecks, and just heard on CNN if there's a shutdown, families of any fallen will not recieve death benefits to lay them to rest until after the government resumes! it's pathetic what this country has come to!

  4. I agree with you. The boneheads making these decisions give little thought to the people who will suffer.

When my husband was active duty military in the `70`s, the government shut down. We were allowed to pick up groceries at the commissary and pay when our checks came in. Medical care continued too. Today I heard that the commissary's will close and maybe the military hospitals will open only for emergency care. How can our military fight overseas or whatever the reason for separation, while worrying about their families? What about Landstuhl in Germany? Will our wounded warriors suffer because of egos in DC? This is a travesty. I have never before seen such pettiness and me, me, me in this country.
